Ghost Cams (also known as Ghost Webcams, Ghost Cameras,
or Haunted Webcams) date back to the very early 2000s, and gained
popularity in the mid 2000s, as a result of the increased viewership of
paranormal shows, such as "Ghost Hunters".

These cameras were hosted by individuals who, in most cases,
believed that their homes or properties where either haunted, or where
being visited by the paranormal, including UFOs, Leprechauns, Bigfoot,
    Faeries, Ect.

At the height of their popularity, there where more than
two dozen active Ghost Cams on the internet, including but not limited to the Asylum Cam, the Willard Library
Brown Lady Cam, the Leprechaun Cam, and a cam on the Queen Mary.

The communities around these cameras where made up of hundreds, if not thousands of people, many of
whom would watch the cameras all hours of the day and night, resulting in what some would say is impressive evidence
    of the paranormal.

One example of a community of people viewing these Ghost Cams
was The Asylum Cam. Ran by a couple going by the handles "Doc" and
"Pookie", The Asylum cam featured cameras in different areas of their
home, as well as others, whom they would host on the site. The site also was
home to a forum, in which members could share their screen captures, and
talk about the paranormal, as well and every day life.

Sadly, and surprisingly, today there are fewer than ten places hosting
Ghost Cams, including dddavid's Ghost Cams, the Willard Library, the
Spirit Realm Network, and a Loch Ness Monster Cam. In our opinion, this is
surprising because of the now lower cost of hosting, and cameras, in the
modern age, as compared to 20 plus years ago, the heyday of the Ghost Cam.

Perhaps one day the Ghost Cam will become popular again and another boom will occur, but for now we can appreciate
the old surviving captures, and the memories of late nights refreshing a Cam and waiting to hopefully see something spooky.
